bondage

circa 1300, Anglo-Latin bondagium "legal condition of a bonded serf or slave"

As a BOND is a legally binding agreement of service/slavery, it must contain at least one condition. The accumulative conditions are bondage.
A deliberate corruption of the pre-12th Century English word bonda "householder" and Old Norse bondi/boandi meaning "free-born farmer"

The sexual meaning is first recorded in 1963. It is an entirely contemporary addition, which only befuddles the perception of history.

bondage noun
  • the position or condition of a serf, slave or prisoner; servitude, serfdom, slavery

“Hardwired bondage to the adoration of ambiguity is not life, no matter how many agree to call it that. To live in absolute integrity requires an openness, which anyone trained in the adoration of ambiguity is not likely to posses, so it is something that needs to be evolved, and that requires an effort. Realizing all of this is meant to be a gentle reminder of the necessity of open-mindedness. Not an open-mindedness which degenerates into constant doubt of everything, unable to discern what is what, nor an open-mindedness which degenerates into gullibility, over-eager to reach conclusions or be agreeable or believe almost anything, but a curious broadness of approach when engaging with any endeavour.
A sharp mind, but an open heart.”
